iPod 3G closeouts begin; $249-$399 inc. $50 Amazon GC

Been waiting for the best deal on an iPod? Amazon.com’s sweetest offer just became even sweeter thanks to the release of the 4G iPods. Free shipping, $50 gift certificates, and no tax in most states.

  • 15GB iPod (3G): $249 - add $1 worth of additional items to get a free $50 Amazon gift certificate.

  •   20GB iPod (3G): $299 with free $50 Amazon gift certificate.

  • 40GB iPod (3G): $399 with free $50 Amazon gift certificate.

And remember, Apple’s online store typically begins a gradual evolution of closeout deals following the discontinuation of earlier models, ending in stronger (but very limited quantity) discounts several months later. Tax and shipping will be extra.

they won’t email you the $50 GC until Sept. and if you get the 15GB, the $1 additional item might have to be electronic products, like a CD-R would do.

I ordered the 3G 15GB ipod for $249 + USB to dock-connector cable for $20 to qualify for $50 gift card. The cable and ipod were shipped separately. The cable arrived fine, on Tuesday, but the box for the ipod was torn at the top. Somebody tore the box enough to put a hand in and tear throough all the packaging inside and steal the ipod, batteries, ear-buds, just leaving the manuals and i-tunes software CD-Rom.

UPS and Amazon are unreachable at night, so I have to wait until tomorrow morning to report. What bullsh*t!

Have you heard of this happening to anyone. I never signed for the ipod, they just lft it by my door. I bet the theft took place inside the UPS system, and not from my door, as it was delivered at 6:04 PM PDT and my wife came home and brought it in at 6:30 PM. Anyone who would have stolen it form me from my door would have just taken the whole box. I believe this was an inside job.
