iPod 4G testing underway, more photos
iLounge couldn’t wait until Friday to receive its 40GB iPod, so we went to our local Apple Store and picked up a new 4G 20GB iPod for review. It’s being put through its paces as we speak. And yes, though the numbers show only a .12” difference, the new 40GB version feels surprisingly thicker (3G size, even) than the new 20GB. Retail Apple Stores have received “lots of them” in both sizes, and they’re already going quickly. Check back here for updates.

I have a 3g and just got the 4g. My biggest complaint with the 3g was I would often try to shut it down by holding down the play button, but the iPod wouldn’t respond, it took several tries. Maybe this was a fluke with mine, but I’m not as frustrated using the 4g. I think it’s a big improvement.

IMPERFECTIONS/SCRATCHES ON YOUR IPOD?
I have just opened my brand new 4th generation 40GB ipod. Immediately after removing the ipod from its plastic wrapping I noticed that the front of the unit had many imperfections on it. It’s not like the surface is scratched, the best way I can describe it is as though something has been spilt on the front and then left to dry leaving a residue. I’ve tried wiping the front with a damp cloth and the imperfections have gone slightly but I cannot get rid of them completely (it’s as though the imperfections are within the material.
I’m not impressed when I’ve just paid £300 since I would expect it to be perfect. I think I’m going to return the Ipod and see if a reaplcement is any better.
HAS ANYBODY ELSE FOUND SCRATCHES OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THEIR 4TH GENERATION IPOD?????
