What was the kid doing Mowing the Lawn durring a lightning Storm anyway?!?!  I will be sick if I find out he tries to sue Apple.  The metal lawn mower would have attracted lightning faster than an Ipod if lightning can be attracted which the weather people are saying it cant!  I love the way People blame their total lack of Common sence on others!

lucky13 - that isn’t capitalism, that’s just simple abuse of the legal system.  Capitalism is the underlying process that put an ipod in your hands in the first place.  So if you’re truly anti-capitalism, you can cleanse yourself by sending me your iPod.

there is a show on the discovery channel called mythbusters that tested if lightning was attracted to people that had lots of piercings on their head or face. They found that there was no difference in lightning strikes between a head with no metal piercings and a head with lots of piercings on the nose eyebrow, tongue, ears, and lips. They did find that if you stuck a metal door knob into the head that the lightning tended to strike the head with the door knob. Unfortunatley they didn’t test any headphones or ipods. But I would say that there are a lot of people out there with a lot more metal on their heads from piercings then are in earbuds.

it makes sense, sortof. at least the burn patterns.
electric lines would be easier for the lightning to travel through than the human body. did the ipod have anything to do with him getting struck, doubt it, i think the ipod ay well have help save him. electric current was brought away fom most of his vitals by being carried through the headphones rather than through him.

Why do you mow during a thunderstorm with an ipod? Well, of course to get the natural high of being struck by lightning, then suing the company. Oh, wait, thats no natural high! Thats just going beyond the threshold of pain to...have...a reason...to sue...and get rich...?

I’m not against capitalism, I LOVE my iPod! It was working in this capitalistist society that helped me get it. I’m happy that the kid survived with minimal injuries, but seriously, if there really was even the slightest inkling of possibility that the iPod could’ve attracted lightning, there’d probably be a lawsuit. It IS the American way, boondongle! We see an opportunity to ‘get ours’, and we strike. It’s just what happens when a society has equated power with money. That kid is gonna have a heck of a story to tell his grandkids.

My Ipod has never been that electrifying!!!....but then I have the 60GB and it doesn’t have a “flash” drive........

I do feel for the kid as I have been grazed by lightening and it isn’t fun....knocked unconscious and splitting headache with temporary loss of vision BUT....mowing in a mounting thunderstorm?(I was hit at the door of my house just looking out) An attempted lawsuit would be ludicrous.  A runner up spot for a Darwin award is more appropriate.
