iPod clone spotted, will Apple pursue?
A reader has spotted another iPod clone at MP3mall.net. The Vonee Digital Jukebox M7 20GB has a similar look to the iPod as well as it being white. We’ve tried to learn more about the company Vonee, but found nothing of revelance on the Internet. Recently we reported that Apple had ‘threatened to sue’ Samsung over its latest Yepp MP3 player (in which they changed the design before releasing it to the public), and this makes us wonder if Apple is seeking other possible lawsuits as well.

It can barely be called a clone as it is about 50% bigger. It uses a 2.5” notebook hard disk as storage. iPod uses 1.9” PCMCIA hard disk. Much heavier and bulkier than iPod.

It looks nothing like the iPod.
Rather, it reminds me of one of the hundreds of PDAs already on the market. Let’s stop over-reacting.

Ummm, that looks nothing like iPod. And reason ipod is threating to samsung is due to their round navigational interface. This thing dosn’t even have any!

I think the Samsung yep was closer to the iPod because it uses the same tiny 1.8 drives instead of the big clunky 2.5 drives.

None of the posts about iPod clones make any sense. I’ve looked at them all and they all look or function nothing like the iPod. This particular one utilizes USB 2, not Firewire, has no scroll wheel, and quite frankly doesn’t share anything but maybe the color with the iPod and the HD space.
Stop this nonsensical drivel.

My microwave is a ipod clone…its a bit bigger….but its white. I think Apple should pursue this. I can send them photos if they want. Also i want my microwave software upgraded to 2.0.

microwave? i was thinking my pda could be a possible ipod clone…
1. it play’s mp3’s
2. got a directional control pad
3. i’ve got lots of bottles of white-out to play with
the only problem, is it doesn’t quite hold much more than a 1GB microdrive… ooh, that and it’s got a touchscreen… apple, beat that!

apple have had a lot of problems in the past, they finally hit the right note and now there are loads of companys lining up to make ‘clones’, so you can expect them to be a bit mad

this is absolutely not a clone. if it is, then the ipod is a clone of the creative nomad.

Apple did NOT invent mp3 players.

The mp3 player is actually made by Jens of Sweden. CNET spotted the player a number of months ago.
Other than an image, Jens no longer offers any info on the player on their web site. It was scheduled to begin shipping in May.

wow.
it looks NOTHING like it. Whoever posted the article didnt do it with care. It is entirely different. Any new mp3 player that uses has same colour LCD scr. is considered a clone?
Get over it, the iPOD is not the only mp3 player avaiblable.

actually yeah it looks pretty good.. but on the other hand i think the navigation system seems to resembles that of the ipod.. other than that it seems to have more features, although much bulkier

I’m not sure who posts the news and how it’s decided it’s newsworthy but this is pathetic. That picture looks nothing like an ipod. Apple didn’t invent the use of cascading menus and white as a case color for an electronic device.
