iPod silhouette guy dances at Apple Store
In a performance that was recorded for posterity, an Apple retail store in Novi, Michigan last week featured a surprise three-minute appearance by one of the iPod silhouette dancers - or at least, someone dressed like one of them.
Patrons weren’t the only ones surprised to see the man in all-black attire get down to Jet’s song Are You Gonna Be My Girl? next to the store’s Genius Bar; following the performance, the store’s manager kicked out the performer’s friends, who lingered with a video camera after the impromptu dance routine had ended.
For details on the life imitates art imitates life performance, check out Cult of Mac, and don’t forget to watch the movie. Key moment: the silhouette drops his iPod a third of the way through, but doesn’t stop dancing.

Not actually done by the guys who run SomethingAwful, just a few forumers. The goldmines are culled from good threads.

I love the ipod commercials! The manager was probably really nervous about this because it could have been a distraction for a bunch of people to try to steal things. I read an article about a computer store that had something completely unexpected happen to cover up a lot of shoplifting.

Something just doesn’t really fit here. How did they make everything on the dancer black, with no light reflections? I call Discreet Flame shenanigans.

“Questions and comments
-Where’s the music coming from. “
From the person himself:
“Yes. That song was playing *loudly* over Klipsch speakers in the store. You could hear it anywhere in the store.”

MTVKilledusall: Matte fabric = no reflection. Actually, if you look closely, you can see a bit of reflection off of the sunglasses.
To the people commenting on the lack of dancing abiltiy, if you actually go to the SomethingAwful.com thread where this was originally posted, you’ll see that the guy himself said that he decided to flail instead of dance, as it’d be funnier to do and would be a better parody.
The lack of reaction from the employees and customers is rather funny, IMHO.

Sure . . . after the fact he “says” he purposely didn’t dance well.
My bet is he just can’t dance.
