that’s crazy. i wonder if it’s any more scratch-resistant than the original casing. i should hope so since it’s clear. i wonder how it would look with a clear hard case on it.

not a bad price as well. i’m actually considering trying this.

Reminds me of the cleartone phones in the eighties.  Interesting idea, but for my taste the interior of the iPod just doesn’t seem all that interesting to look at.

why couldnt you just spraypain the inside of the shell, making it whatever color you wanted. or even do a design.

i’m thinking just a color on the inside would be a little pointless. you may as well just buy a newer colored ipod. i think SouthernGothic has a good idea with a glowing ipod.

i really like the way the clickwheel looks. maybe just a black casing with clear clickwheel would look good. the copperish metallic orange is pretty cool.

Alright, I’ve been modding ipods for years, and have attempted (aka not finished) to fabricate a clear faceplate for the video ipods, just because they are easier. I was hand making one out of plexi, and it’s actually pretty nice. What I want to know is what kind of plastic is being used here? Is it the same stuff used on cd jewel cases? Because if so, that would break really easily. I want something that could with stand a drop, something as strong as the original faceplates.

Granted, it wouldn’t be the best idea for a portable device (Read: drops) but it’s clear, virtually scratchproof and not overly costly.
