iPods missing from Dell’s website
A brief check of Dell’s website, www.dell.com, revealed a distinct lack of iPods. Only 5 mp3 players are listed, and the iPod is not among them. Whether or not the absence is temporary remains to be seen.

If an item is backordered for 3+ weeks, it’s automatically removed from Dell’s website. You can still order though. I had this problem when I ordered a TabletPC. When I finally decided to order, it was gone. A Dell sales rep told me about the 3 week issue and took my order. YMMV, but I’d say this is what’s behind the disappearance of iPods at dell.com.

I ordered a 30GB iPod from Dell on 5/15 (utilizing 3 discounts posted on dealmac.com) and just received it on 7/3. They offered to cancel my order on a couple of occassions; which was very considerate of them since it cost $404 out the door and surely a loss for them. I loved sticking it to Dell almost as I enjoyed the deep discount.
