This is super, and way beyond other services I’m sure. But…
...we have a long way to go to get to SJ’s goal of 100 Million by the end of April next year, even with 3 months of the Pepsi promotion. (Feb, Mar, Apr).

Yep. But I think they is a little ironic with this goal since they set it to one millions song forst. Then 10 million and now 100 million. Don’t think that they are actully counting on it.

Not sure you understand the goal history.
They wanted like 1M in the first week, but got it in 3.5 days. They wanted 10M in the first 4 months, but got it in 2. The goals have deadlines… they aren’t just arbitrary numbers. That would be dumb indeed.

At about 1.5 million songs per week, iTMS is on pace to sell 55 million songs (current total plus 30 million in the next 4 months and one week) by the end of April. That assumes flat sales, does not include the Pepsi promotion, and does not include any sales in Japan - since we don’t have a hard date in ‘04 for iTMS sales to be available there.

and it also doesn’t include all the people getting ipods for christmas that will begin to use the service…

...True. Nor does that include the folks receiving the more than $1 million of iTMS gift certificates sold so far who may be turned on to iTMS for the first time as a result of receiving those certs.
