The problem I would have with these is with the retractable enclosure in the middle of the cord when extended. I would think it could be an annoyance to have that thing dangling from your ears with any sort of weight.

Maybe that’s just me though….

I bought a pair like these (different brand, same price) and after so much retracking they mess up the inside wire resulting in one channel to go mute.

yep, i agree with digley. If the little compartment thingy sat next to the iPod rather than in the middle i would probably buy some, but ehh, i like the apple ones.

I agree with DingleyDon, the weight of these would be extremely annoying.

Personally, I think everyone should get either a pair of Sony EX71s or the new Apple In-Earphones. Both sound grrrrreat.

ya i have a pair of ex71s, theyre amazin. it’d be cool if we could just wrap up a pair of our own headphones into and make them retractable. i bet those aren’t very good.

Has any one tried the SmartWrap for iPod (adv. at the top of this page)?

Seems that it might work for headphones you already have.

I’m buying a USB adapter for my phone from JavoEdge, it has the same mechanism for the cord, if it is good I’ll buy a pair of the headphones and write a review for everyone :)

I bought a pair of JAVOeBuds with high hopes that were left unmet.  Above all, the sound quality was no better than Apple’s (older) in-ear phones that came with my iPod.  On top of this, the weight of the retracting “hub” was enough to dislodge the earbuds whenever I was moving with them in, even a modestly-paced walk.  The retractability is a really neat, convenient feature, and if you plan to use these at times when sitting still (e.g. commuting by train, etc.) they may be for you.  But for $20 you could get a lot more sound.
