JVC has announced a new line of iPod-ready home and portable audio systems. JVC’s new “Made for iPod” product line includes the NX-PS1, a compact desktop system with a matching subwoofer; the UX-EP25, a low-profile CD micro system; the RA-P10, a portable system with iPod dock and clock radio functions; and the RC-EZ38 CD/cassette boombox.
The NX-PS1 ($250) consists of three 4-inch cubes—a center unit and two matching speakers—and features an iPod stand, remote control, powered subwoofer, and USB connectivity. The UX-EP25 ($200) is “about the size of a small laptop computer, standing just a few inches tall.” It features a CD player, AM/FM tuner and an auxiliary input. The RA-P10 ($130) features an iPod dock, FM tuner and built-in stereo speakers. It can be AC or battery powered and includes a backlit display, alarm clock, room thermometer, and remote control. The RC-EZ38 ($100) offers CD and cassette playback, USB connectivity, AM/FM tuner, a clock/timer, and remote control.

The RA-P10 and NX-PS1 show promise, depending on how well they sound, but RC-EZ38 looks a JVC design dragged out of their early 90’s coffers. Man, it has been seriously hit with an ugly-stick, and beaten within an inch of design.

Looks like JVC put out some products because they felt they “had” to.
Very little thought appears to have been spent on these designs and even look like warmed over pieces with a hole cut into the top for the ipod.
For a portable unit to have the ipod just protruding, unprotected, from the top in such a fashion is clumsy at best.
Normally I defend different ideas, but this is some real shoddy output(not even going to give it the benefit of calling it design work).
