“Kazaa Derivatives Offer RIAA-Blocking Features”

“Both Kazaa K++ and Kazaa Lite, two very similar modifications to the Kazaa file-sharing system by Sharman Networks, now contain several features designed to foil scanning attempts by the RIAA. Both updates were published to the Web at the end of last week. [...]
Neither developer released any official statement explaining the addition of the new features designed to defeat the RIAA’s scanning efforts, which the agency reportedly began at the beginning of this month in an attempt to discover which users are illegally sharing copyrighted files. Once the IP addresses are matched to individual users, the agency will begin filing copyright infringement lawsuits this fall.”

hkjdf, that’s not in the spirit of file sharing. if no one shares, where will you get your files, hkjdf? as far as declaring war on the consumers, as in the first post, consumer would be defined as someone paying for music, not stealing it. the kids will always be ahead of the RIAA though.

As usual, this is yet another case of the RIAA continually biting the hand that they want to actively feed them. What makes this so hilarious(or is it pathetic?I can’t decide),is that the majors started themselves off on this road to ruin when they elected to, among other things,to stop making stuff available commercially.
I’m a firm believer in making sure the artist gets paid,but when you go out of your way to continually frustrate the very people you want to buy your stuff…I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve gone into a store to buy songs,only to be told I couldn’t because “the company feels that it would take away sales from the album…” The problem I have with that logic is that 97% of the time, I’ve already own the album. Or being asked to shell out another $16.00 to buy another copy of an album I already own because it has two new songs on it…I could go on and on…
I’ve read articles that quote the Chairman of Island DefJam say that the reason P2P sharing is so rampant is because “the kids and other people using it are lazy…”. I beg to differ.
I know that I kinda went off topic,and I apologize,but as long as the RIAA continues to take stances like this,instead of trying to work with it,they will continually find themselves under seige,because people will become that much more craftier…

So let me get this straight, I have normal kazaa, but if I turn disable file sharing they can’t get me? or will I have to delete all of my music? Also I live in Canada
