“The makers of Kazaa, the world’s most popular computer file-sharing program, cannot be held liable for copyright infringement of music or movies swapped on its free software, the Dutch Supreme Court ruled Friday. [...]
‘This victory sets the precedent about the legality of peer-to-peer technology across the European Union, and around the world,’ Kazaa founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis said in a statement distributed on the Internet. They called the ruling a ‘historic victory for the evolution of the Internet and for consumers.’”

“Kazaa Not Responsible for Swapping”
Of course they are. People would not share music through Kazaa if it didn’t exist!

Cars exist, but care makers are not responsible for people speeding.

How stupid can you be?...............
I was the last one to leave work for the Holidays and I knowingly left the front door wide open…..................
Hell…...I’m not responsible if someone steals everything, I didn’t take anything myself!
Stupid…Stupid….Stupid
No wonder this world is as F’d up as it is with logic like that!

“...music or movies swapped on its free software, the Dutch Supreme Court ruled Friday…”
I think swapping is more accepted in the Dutch culture. That doesn’t fly in the States.

Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
The moment you stop making people responsible for their actions and start blaming the “enabler” is the moment personal responibility no longer exists.
Somehow I manage to avoid the “enabler” that is KaZaa. Why can’t others?

Great to hear this. RIAA is slowly losing

Except that this happened outside of the U.S., so it had absolutely nothing to do with the RIAA in any way.

Maybe they should outlaw computers, after all, they make it possible to rip mp3’s… oh yeah, and iPod’s, they make you rip those mp3’s to fill them up…

... or worse, they make you swap! It’s too good not to do it! I can’t keep myself from swapping! Heip! - Come on, we are all responsible for what we do ourselves, I don’t Kazaa either, I manage.

For all you goody goodies out there, the softwared doesn’t make people swap. If Kazaa was not there then it would be a different program, so get over it. You don’t want to swap then don’t. I do and will continue to do so.

If Kazaa should be held accountable, then why shouldn’t every car maker be shut down for making something that kills people by the thousands? Do we need to be protected from ourselves like helpless children?
“now kids take out your circle of paper and safety pencils…..”
