Uhhh, so people actually prefer black for their already brick-like remote over pebble grey? Now really? Boy, if it takes Keyspan *months* to come up with a new color for the same case, we will never ever see the USB version of this remote. Maybe a white one for Chirstmas to celebrate the spirit of innovation?

I work at Keyspan and wanted to address your comments. 

I think what you are really saying is that you are really excited about our upcoming TuneView (USB) product that allows you control media on your computer (ie iTunes).

I’m excited about this product too!

I can assure that we are spending our time working on TuneView (USB version) so we can get it out and into the hands of people like you.

You will see some announcements about this new product soon and I would recommend that you keep checking the web for details.

Regarding the color change, we’ve received great feedback and I think you’ll love the new look too.

Got me right

In fact, what the USB Version will hopefully do is archieve what many people have been waiting for - for years. A full access display remote that is neither limited by a short bluetooth range, nor forcing your network down too a 11b crawl (often insufficient for AirTunes to work well). Both were problems when using cellphone based solutions. Products that worked around these issues used to be quite expensive. If the iPod version gives any hint about the price, those days are over. So yes, it is a very exiting product. I hope it also allows the user to change the AirPort Express unit iTunes is streaming to, that would be a great feature.

I wish “you people” would get a clue and STOP DESIGNING ACCESSORIES WITH CRADLE DOCKING! People DO NOT LIKE TAKING THE CASES OFF THEIR iPODS EVERYTIME THEY WANT TO PLUG IN AN ACCESSORY…..

Bad Beaver…It’s Sendstation….and I got one last week….it works great for doing nothing…but the people who are engineering new products for the ipod need to realize that some, maybe most ipods now are in cases and need to design a better dock system then the cradle.

The DLO homedock deluxe almost had a winner with their dock system, however the 30 pin plug was not long enough to connect to a iPod with a case….hence the sendstation adapter….

Hi PooDeFuego (hehe),

I think this topic is better suited for a forum as it is a bit off topic since it doesn’t specifically address the story that was posted. 

This is a great topic for discussion and I think it would be great for others to comment on this.  Perhaps the forum is the best place to do this?

That being said, I’ll take the bait and reply…

I agree that removing cases is a pain.  I think that case manufacturers are starting to see this as I have seen them address this topic by making cases that work with this universal well design (personally I have two cases that came with universal well inserts).

I’ve seen a 3rd party product that helps this issue for older cases or cases that do not come with a universal dock insert (it’s dock connector extender - I’ve seen it here on iLounge although I can’t remember the name).

The other side of the issue is the dock design.  The universal well design is the industry standard design.  This is why we went with that design.

I can’t speak for other vendors but I can say we’ll be happy to make a different product if there is enough demand for it.  So far, we haven’t had any feedback on this topic.

There’s actually a pretty simple solution to this ‘problem’ (at least for the manufacturers) and that is to make the docking well large enough to hold an iPod w/ a case and then have the adaptors sized to fit various iPods w/o cases.  Computer Asscociates has done this w/ the speaker system I use at work and it works very well - I can dock a 5G w/ a clear Belkin case w/ no problem.

It is expected to be free but you may need to pay for shipping. 

Contact support via our website and give us your contact details and we’ll get the details to you when we everything is ready to go.  We expect to have the new enclosures when in May.

Installation is pretty easy to do.

In April you posted here in the ilounge that we “will see some announcements about [the tuneview usb] product soon” - when is that going to be? This is getting so damn frustrating waiting for you guys to put something out that I may spend my $$ on the ewoo (even though ilounge gave it a D-).

Not only do I get crickets for answers from your website, but when I call your member services folks, they have no idea what I am talking about.

Could you guys give us a heads up on how things are going… maybe update the FAQ on when we can expect to purchase our delicious TVU-200C?

I’ve had the Keyspan remote/dock for about a year now.  The remote has had lots of problems with being extremely slow in response and having problems with the display screen.  I have tried twice now to contact Keyspan for support, but no response.  Nice move guys.  Your product isnt great and obviously you dont back it up.  I guess youre waiting for the crappy warranty to run out.  For those considering a purchase…DON’T.
