Keyspan has released updated firmware for its TuneView iPod remote. The update increases scrolling speed, adds an ability to jump to a specified first letter within a large list, and improves overall wake-from-sleep performance. The TuneView remote can be updated by connecting it to the USB port on a PC or Mac and loading the new firmware. The $179 remote, released late last year, features a color LCD screen and 2-way RF connectivity that allows you to browse and manage an iPod throughout your house.

Hm, faster whatnot is always a good thing, yet considering this is likely running on some flash the thought of a need for better “wake-from-sleep performace” *does* raise a brow. The TuneView video on the site looks rather promising, but it does not show enough “interface in action”, which in context could be self-explanative… I especially like how it shows that this remote is not thick as a brick over the whole over the whole of its length. Good stuff!
Anyway, Keyspan, how about releasing that TuneView USB - before the iPhone comes out? I would love to buy the TuneView USB, yet I figure the iPhone might possibly obliterate it/raise doubts about spending $180 on another remote.
