The first photos of Levi’s iPod-ready denim jeans have made their way online. Originally announced in January, the Levi’s RedWire DLX jeans feature a built-in iPod cradle and red strap inside the side pocket, a control pad located on the jeans’ watch pocket, and a set of adjustable earbuds. The jeans are expected to be available this Fall. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Update: We’ve spoken with Levi’s and have been provided with more photos and a retail price. The Levi’s representative said the jeans will go on sale in mid-September and retail for $250. More pictures below.

What’s next? An iPod compatible toothbrush? How about an iPod compatible toilet brush?

They mention a price on the site, as long as that’s accurate, if you do the conversion they should be about $250.

$250 Dollars?????!!!!! For JEANS? That’s absolutely ridiculous. That must be a 200-300% profit.

250 for levi’s? Does that include the cowboy boots to go with the fancy with the stiching?

$250 dollars for a pair of jeans. I don’t think so. They aren’t even stylish; they look like Wranglers. Wake up people. All jeans are iPod compatible.

Regular jeans don’t have an iPod cradle or a control pad. Think of it as the Burton jacket....for your butt.

WHAT? $250?
That must be in Indian Rupee’s - right?
I can buy 505’s at Sears for $26 USD.
How does adding a cradle, strap, control pad and ear buds justify an additional $224?
I can get an iPod 5G Video on pricegrabber.com right now for $224.95
Levi’s must think we are stupid.

$250 for jeans isn’t unheard of. No jeans I would ever buy, mind you...but they’re out there, and someone’s buying ‘em.
As for this excessery, Steve wrote “All jeans are iPod compatible.” He’s right. Here’s how:
Pocket = iPod holder.
Control pad = thumb on your iPod.
These jeans = stupid.

Unbelievable...I think the click control is what makes this pants pricey. No thanks!!! Good idea and probably will go down to one of the dumbest invention of all time.

Um, wow. Pay $250 or....simply keep my iPod upside down in my pocket? Such a hard decision, man, I’m racking my brain here.
(Is this because everyone has an iPod now? People have to keep coming out with stupid, overpriced accessories to distinguish the hip/trendy/rich from the rest of the pitiful gene pool?)

great, so now instead of having just an ipod stolen, you’ll lose your pants too.

How are you suppose to wash these stupid pants.

People will buy these jeans because of the iPod brand, but that is just ridiculous, and again how the hell are you supposed to wash them?
Posted by Amir on August 8, 2006 at 4:48 PM (PDT)

I guess you can’t wash them with that control pad.... and that headphone thing.
At least this way you won’t get your iPod stolen because the person won’t come near you because you stink.

i think that is really really cool, but of course i would never pay for pants like that just cause they play your iPod!

this has got to be the dumbest this i’ve ever seen! who would pay $250 just for jeans that plays your ipod, u can do that in regular jeans, just stick the ipod in your pocket and your ready to go. people come up with the most stupid ideas nowadays just to make money. and i also have the same question, how the hell are you supposed to wash them?!
