TinPod has announced three new tin iPod cases with artistic designs, hinged lids and padded neoprene lining. The TinPod cases, priced at $17 each, are limited editions, featuring three original illustrations. They work with 3G, 4G and 5G iPods. “When we designed the TinPod, we wanted to add something special,” says the company. “So we asked renowned illustrator Kurt Ketchum to help out. The three designs called Die Blechdose, L’Orange Lune and Change Attitude draw on the realms of music and travel.”

Cute, cheap, great for tossing your iPod in a bag and keeping it safe without adding a sticky rubber or very expensive leather case.
Nice product.

On their site, there are “ports” in the end of the case. One looks alligned for a 5G headphone and the other for an older iPod’s headphone. But the shapes are different. Any thoughts?

Headphone port is way too small unless you’re using Apple or similar buds. Sent them a note on this. Should be easy to correct.

This is more a note for them in case they’re checking their own news feature, or if anyone doesn’t know about it
in regards to their statement of “but we didn’t find any that really inspired us or that featured the work of artists.”, MacSkinz offers limited edition shell style cases that feature works of popular artists. Their cases are a little more expensive, but they only print 100 of each design, so they’re much more limited.
As for the TinPods though. I really like the artwork, much better then what’s available at MacSkinz, but the case appears to add more bulk then I prefer and I’d rather have the control and screen access at all times rather then having to open for access.

Reminds me of a tobacco tin. In fact a tobacco tin would be cheaper even with the tobacco stil in it.
