Book2Pod is a utility to format large text documents so they can be read on an iPod using the built in Note Reader software. It supports documents larger than the 4KB per note limit of Note Reader, and makes the 1000 note limit easier to live with.

What’s new in this version:

  • Added an option for ‘Show as on iPod’

  • ome efficiency improvements, should be much faster to display long books

  • Option to use chapter delimiters as titles on the iPod (instead of Chapter 1, Chapter 2 etc)

    License: Freeware
System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.3 and an iPod with firmware version 2.0 or higher (Dock connector or iPod Mini)

Hmm… it would be much better if there was a Windows version, or better yet, a Linux version. I really hope that they port this soon.

The iPod would truly be great for reading eBooks, with its large screen and huge storage capacity with a backlight as well.

“much better”? I can see why Windows users would want a similar utility, but “much better” than a Mac version?

I’d be interested to see how he gets around the 4kb limit and the 1000 note limit, but the website has been down all day….

    btw

For a similar tool for windows / command line, have a look at

    http://www.alphalink.com.au/~timmo

it splits larger files up into 4 kb chunks, and puts links to then next page…

The site also has the perl script that should work with a linux perl distribution.  Details are on the site…

    Cheers..

Couldn’t get the new links between notes feature.  I emailed the author.  Very nice program.
