i, for one, feel bad for Jack. he tried to create just a simple little product for the hell of it, and you all slammed him, REALLY badly.
first you all ranted and ranted and he felt compelled to sell it at UNDER COST. and now you’re all just whining about how ugly it is, blah blah.
come on, let’s be nice here, let’s have a little respect. it has no real function except to look nice. (some people will think so) well, that can be said about a lot of things. people will still buy it because it’s a neat idea.
“Basically, you are saying you would have been totally ripping people off if they would have bought it for 70 bucks.”
dude, have you seen any other product like this at all? my guess is no. so how would he have any way of measuring what the public response would be to this?
good luck with this and further ideas jack…i’ve looked through all of the products on the site and i really like the ideas, keep it up, variety is good.
now, $100 for the belkin card reader? that’s another story…. :S

I think it’s pretty pathetic that members of the Lounge slammed a guy who put out a product that admittedly is just for looks and not much function. If you want it then buy it, if you don’t then express yourself but do it courteously and don’t be repetitive about it. You all sit here and post about products that in your little existence you would not buy but here is a news flash, there is a whole world outside of yours that may feel differently. Despite what your mothers tell you the universe does NOT revolve around you. If you don’t like Jack’s products then don’t buy them. I personally think the dock cover would look pretty good on my desk but I don’t have the expendable $40 to plunk down on it. But I am not delusional enough to believe that my opinion reflects that of the entire consumer market.
On top of that many of us here at the Lounge hope for more iPod vendors and manufacturers to stop by and have a read of our opinions. Jack took the time and did that. And he subsequently made a good faith gesture in response to your comments by lowering the price. You don’t like his product then fine but stop slamming him for it. It’s a short run of pieces, I am sure there is enough market to sell them. He is making a product and *gasp* he is looking to make a profit, its called running a business. If you don’t know what the definition of that word means then look it up.

Since this thing is so expensive, I am thinking of marketing a “Dock Cover” protector. It will only be $29.99
I’ll let you know when it’s available.
Just kidding!
