iPodder automatically downloads new mp3 files when they become available from any of five sources (you can change these if you wish) and copies them to playlists in iTunes based on the channel name. If you have an iPod, connecting it to your computer will load the songs automatically. This software is currently under development as a SourceForge project.

It’s essentially a way to distribute audio content via rss. Say you want to distribute music or other audio content. You create an rss feed from your site that includes an enclosure of an mp3 file. iPodder reads the rss file (XML) and downloads the mp3 files to iTunes and syncs them to your iPod. Schedule iPodder to run automatically and any new content will be availalbe on you iPod. Pretty limited right now as only five sites (that I am aware of) really offer audio enclosures (mostly IT related), but as with anything else, once it matures additional content will become available and make this more useful. http://www.itconversations.com is an example of a site that offers an rss feed for iPodder. Adam Curry (80’s MTV VJ) is the original developer of iPodder.
