In an unusual example of a major-label band seeking specifically to cultivate the interest of new iPod owners, Capitol Records recording artists SOUND team have debuted “The Fastest Man Alive,” a free downloadable music video from the EP “Work.” Edited by an alumnus from the 2003 remake of the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre, footage from the video was filmed over a two-year period using the classic Super 8 format, and has a distinctly throwback look and sound. According to a representative, the band is among the first major-label artists to have released a free video of this sort for fifth-generation iPod users.

Strange, I emailed in with news of Phish releasing over a dozen videos in iPod format a month ago, and yet it got no coverage at all. Surely a band who has pioneered the self sales model of digital media deserves more coverage than “SOUND team”.

I don’t know, man, this is a pretty cool video.

this SOUND team video blows away Phish’s entire body of work. that’s not saying much, however, because Phish sucks.

Wow, there’s some intelligent musical thoughts. iPodders proving that 9/10 don’t know a thing about music. A video by sound team blows away the most successful touring band of the past 15 years? Right. “Your Mom” pretty much sums it up.
