Microsoft: No iPod rival in the works
Microsoft has denied last week’s report that it was teaming up with Toshiba, Victor, NTT DoCoMo and five other companies to take on the iPod in Japan. “The announcement that came out of Japan this week was simply about the Japanese launch of Windows Media Player 11,” said a Microsoft representative who asked not to be named. “Due to translation issues the announcement was misconstrued to sound like Microsoft was developing a rival to the iPod; that’s just not the case.”

Okay, clearly M$ is developing iPod competitors, otherwise why market PlaysForSure? So, this flat denial gives credence to the rumor. Maybe something bigger is on the way.

From MSFT???? Let’s see if they can punch Vista out of a paper bag first, before anyone begins touting an iPod-killa from Redmond.

Maybe they’ll decide to recompile it from scratch again, just for the sake of it this time
