imagePodBrix has announced its latest iPod-themed novelty mini figure — Mister Brix. The $16.99 figure, which attaches to the Apple earbuds cord, will go on sale today at 9:00 p.m. ET.

“Mister Brix is designed to be attached to the earbud cord of your iPod music player. His hands are fixed and he uses two vinyl grips to keep himself firmly attached at all times,” explains the creator. “Mister Brix never gets tired and he will not damage your earbud cord. He can be used with any model of iPod. Mister Brix is made from injection molded white plastic. He is not painted.”

its a vinyl figure.  these are a big deal now, people collect them, there are companies and artist that create these things.  it almost seen as a new art movement.  the podbrix people are just making what some people want.  by charging so much, it makes it more of a collectors item then just a re-painted lego figure.  look at some of the stuff at http://www.kidrobot.com  they have a mini dock that cost 150 bucks, and its a limited edition that is hard to get.  podbrix is just doing the same.

Just goes to prove people will buy anything. Between these sort of nonsensical ‘accessories’ and buying iPods out of vending machines, it’s almost embarrassing to actually OWN an iPod with all this insanity going on.

FahrenheiPod 451: the rumour is Mr. Brix is supposed to be a registered offender of some sort, but only if one values how hard-earned one’s dead presidents are.

danin403: a new art movement, eh?  Art as kitsch…the concept refuses to die…

The piece is a neat concept, but I think it pales in comparison to the Podbuddies.  I purchased PodBoy and it is awesome and completely hand made collectible - not a recycled toy so I think it makes it neater.  I received an email and they are bringing out new pieces in a couple of weeks. http://www.podbuddies.com

This is the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while.

I feel a lawsuit festering….where’s Mrs. Brix? That’s gender bias if I’ve ever seen it and someone has to pay!

-CP: Curious Person asking questions about Mister Brix

-MB: Guy Who Owns one of these “Mister Brix” novelty items

MB: “Man, I feel so cool, hip, and accessorized with my new Mister Brix Ipod-themed novelty item!”

CP: (Walking by)...  “Hey!  What’s that hanging off of your earbud cord?”

MB: “It’s my Mister Brix Ipod-themed novelty item!”

CP: (Looking perplexed)... “Your Mister what?!”

MB: “My Mister Brix Ipod-themed… uh… thingy that hangs off of my earbud cord.”

CP: (Looking even more perplexed - and starting to get annoyed)... “What the freak is a Mister Brix thingy??”

MB: “Um… it’s something that clips to my earbud cord.”

CP: “Uh, yeah, I can see that.  What’s it do?”

MB: “Nothing.”

CP: “Then why do you have one?”

MB: “Uh… Cause it looks kinda cool.”

CP: “It looks cool?  (Looking disgusted)...  You mean, you own an Ipod and having this “thingy” makes you feel even more hip and trendy because you feel all accesorized now.”

MB: (Silent stare)...

CP: “You’re a tool.”  (Walks off)...

MB: (Silent stare)...

I’ll pass.

WOW - have you seen the prices for Mr. PodBrix on Ebay.  Incredible that they are already going for close to $100.  Guess they have a strong following.  Also noticed that there is now a PodBoy from PodBuddies for sale on Ebay.

I’ve seen it all now.

I’m waiting for the gloss white iPod pet rock, the iRock.

Its a NOVELTY item guys why do you keep heaping insults on it? the new item stated it clearly its meant to be a novelty item… means you got lots of spare cash lying around then you buy it, or you’re a ipod junkie and buy all ipod related stuff whether its stupid or not this is just like collecting everything related to spiderman or the likes… you collect it because its just faintly connected to ipod…

i’m guessing people who buy it do not bring it into public (now tat’d be plain stupid walking around on the streets with a lego lookalike figurine tat does nothing but dangle on your earphone cords… some crazy people will do it but most won’t i’m sure)... they’ll buy it then keep it at home and clip it to something on the table as a display…

now THIS is dumb:

*** you first say its dumb, then next you say its smart***

It’s dumb, overpriced and I wouldn’t be caught dead with any of their products.

But, it’s smart and makes a ton of money. If anyone dislikes the company, chances are they just wish they would have thought of the same thing first.
