Mix: 2006 iPods, Video iPod, Disney, Japanese automakers
Needham & Co. analyst Charles Wolf expects Apple to ship 26.5 million iPods in 2005—and 43 million units in 2006, a 73% increase over 2005.
Following The Wall Street Journal’s report on Monday, CNET News.com has posted an in-depth analysis of Apple’s expected move towards video.
Meanwhile, Business 2.0 editor Paul Sloan says: “Steve Jobs has spoken with Disney President and soon-to-be CEO Bob Iger about ways to license various Disney content for a video iPod, according to an internal Disney email I have obtained. That could include anything from clips from ESPN and ABC News to short cartoons.” [via PaidContent.org]
iPodStyle notes that Apple is reportedly working closely with Japanese automakers on an iPod car adapter.

All this talk about a video iPod is nice, but let’s see the silly thing all ready and end all the “speculation and analysis”. Its getting tiresome.

You know, if all it does is show music videos, I don’t expect it to succeed. Honestly, I don’t know if I even want Apple to make it. That said, I expect they will, and it will fly off the shelves…

sweet. but I wish I could understand what they were saying at that iPodStyle link…
In any case, an iPod Adaptor in Japanese cars would be great. Especially because we own Japanese cars and many an iPod.
hooray!

To me, it seems like there is one key point missing with this discussion re the video IPOD. I use my IPOD constantly—but not in situations where I would need to be LOOKING at it. I use it while exercising, while working on the house or yard, while in the city going from one place to another, etc. For me, the greatest thing about my IPOD and iTunes is that I’m able to set up my playlist and let it rip—while the music is going, I almost never have the need to even touch the IPOD itself. It just seems like a video IPOD will negate one of the greatest things, in my mind. Thoughts?
