Mix: Digital gains, Dallas Morning News, nano vs. washer, new iPods?
While global music sales declined 1.9 percent the first half of the year, market share for commercial music downloads rose to 6 percent of total sales, Reuters reports.
Jim Rossman reports for the Dallas Morning News, “The nano pushes the cool factor to a new level. If you touch it, you’ll have to have it,” in his review of the device.
iLounge reader Jon Gales reports that his iPod nano survived a spin in his washing machine.
Sources are predicting new, higher-capacity fifth-generation iPods are on their way this month, possibly with video, reports AppleInsider.

All my DJ sets (most 1hr or more) had to be relegated to the PC until a higher-capacity iPod. Down to 24mb on my 40GB and looking to add that new Franz Ferdinand. What to get rid of?
Plus, my iPod will be DJing my wedding next year, so I need to free up a few hours for that too.
Don’t know if I’m such a space-whore to need 80GB...I’m just hoping any new iPod is accompanied by a price drop on the 60GB.

with over 20GB in my current library, and about 14 GB of music I’d like to add…
I don’t know that I’d call myself a space-whore… I just don’t want to outgrow a new ipod quickly…
and I’d like a little free space for transporting the multimedia projects I work on from home to the office and back…
I’m just someone with very electic taste…
oh, and I’m not talking about 14GB of 320kbps music either… most is 160kps m4a…
