Mix: Pepsi-iTunes, iPod economy, Buy.com, Accessories
This year’s Pepsi-iTunes promotion officially launched today. Apple has updated its promo site with instructions on how to play and redeem codes, official rules and a FAQ.
Ina Fried of CNET News.com has written an extensive article on the “iPod economy,” which currently includes more than 400 add-ons (not counting all the various cases).
Buy.com has the 20GB fourth-generation iPod for $279.99 when you use the online store’s $15 off coupon. Shipping is free.
The Financial Times reports that Apple is setting out to cement its dominance of the portable music player market with the help of iPod accessory makers.

Buy.com’s free shipping is usually only for their “economy shipping” which doesn’t include tracking or insurance. I highly don’t recommend going that way. Upgrade to one of their shipping options that provides insurance and tracking.

I just had to look at BuyMusic.com (the store Enderle said would bury iTunes), since this reminded me.
They’re up to 540,000 songs—not one of which will play on an iPod without re-ripping it. Yet at the top of BuyMusic is a big aqua-look bar advertising the iPod 20 GB with free shipping….
I think BuyMusic has found a way to make money

Bring this argument to Pepsi Canada. Apple can’t do anything if a sponser doesn’t want to.
