Mophie has introduced its Juice Pack Air, a thinner, more case-like version of its Juice Pack external battery pack for the iPhone 3G. The Juice Pack Air features a rechargeable 1200mAh lithium polymer battery integrated in a hard-shell case. The Air will also feature pass-through USB charging and syncing, an on/off switch, a 4 LED charge status indicator, and a slide-together design. Premiering in black, white, or purple, the Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 3G is available for pre-order now at a price of $80, and will ship this spring.

Now this makes more sense. My Incase Power Slider Case goes back today!

I really wish they would make one with a dock connector on the bottom instead of USB , I would love to get this but I would have to remove it every time I hook it up to my Alpine iPod controller.

I hope they improve the unacceptably poor production quality, and complete absence of any customer service. Don’t buy anything from this company until they prove that they have addressed these two issues. At this point they do not deserve to be in business. My 3G battery case simply falls apart while sitting untouched on a shelf. The company doesn’t even read customer emails.

I bought the Incase slider and returned it within 2 weeks - great idea, ok execution (was too blocky / too chunky / too heavy).
This looks promising, but I’m concerned that the thinness may affect the durability of the case and issues with the battery.
I’ve heard that cases cannot put the Apple Dock Connector at the bottom of third party cases is b/c it’s an Apple proprietary input only found on Apple devices (cannot be licensed and mimicked on peripherals).

I am really looking forward to iLounge’s review of this.
A case with a built in battery thats not too bulky (I hope) but the big one for me is the fact you can sync the phone without taking the case off.
If these specs come true, I may just buy this thing.

I love this. My Juice Pack has made me love my phone again. I really started not to like it when it was dead all the time. I’ve had no problem with the customer service at mophie, they even actually pick up the phone! I love the purple, so gonna get one!
