More than 200 accessories for iPod

“Like street racers who trick out their Hondas with air foils and neon lights, iPod users can buy external speakers, winter jackets or fanny packs for their pricey MP3 players.
Apple officials estimate there are more than 200 products on the market. Accessory maker Belkin Corp. (http://www.belkin.com) says one in five iPod owners has bought one of its products.
Atlanta designer Ash Arnett suspects that the iPod’s sleek white design encourages accessorization. ‘Any decision about a case or something like that is going to be a stylistic change, because there’s almost nothing there,’ said Arnett, a principal with the design firm Matter (http://www.matterco.com). ‘It’s like putting a suit of clothes on a generic, asexual mannequin.’”

That was a good one…
But on a more serious note…there are a lot of accessories out for the iPod and the mini. It seems that manufacturers around the world are seeing how popular these portable music players are and are trying to capitalize on the iPod & mini popularity.

yeh, not sure about that comparison.. maybe something like.. um, a house wife asseccorising the house? like putting a pot warmer on the kettle? ...ah forget it.

You’re spot on, Cameron. That is the antithesis rather than the logical equivalent.
I bought the Vaja 3g iVod case (white/grey) based on the iPodlounge review. Despite it’s good design, after a couple of months use, I nearly forgot how good the iPod looks sans case.
As a result, I’m all for the migration to the iPod mini’s form factor. The aluminum case material will go a long way in keeping the iPod looking good.
