Music store offers iPods for CD trade-ins
Millennium Music, an independent music store in Charleston, South Carolina, allows customers to trade in their old CDs for an iPod. You can drop off your CDs at one of two locations or ship your collection to the store. The CDs credits will be judged on physical quality and quality of title. In addition, if a customer doesn’t have enough CDs, the difference can be made up with cash.
Millennium’s CD to iPod converstion table:
45 CDs = 512MB iPod shuffle
65 CDs = 1GB iPod shuffle
85 CDs = 2GB iPod nano
110 CDs = 4GB iPod nano
130 CDs = 30GB video iPod
175 CDs = 60GB video iPod

I have received my 60g ipod today at work. They even sent back the cd’s that they didn’t want. I’m extremely pleased and I am looking forward to get home and charge…

Pretty impressive. Sent my CDs on Friday and have my 30g iPod on the way along with the rejected CDs (mostly classical & jazz titles).

I just FedEx’d them my CDs. $21- via FedEx Ground for 30 pounds. This was the cheapest method and also the fastest (delivery by Monday). I am asking for the 30GB in White.

They got my CDs (180 of them) via USPS today. They gave me full price for 85 of them and half price for 41 of them. The rest they’re sending back (I had some pretty old and more obscure titles). But for $62.00, I’m springing for the 30GB iPod. They’re sending it out today.

I recieved my ipod yesterday. Everything was in order, ipod new and also sent back 3 CD’s that they did not accept. One suggestion for Millenium would be to send a confirmation e-mail with your total negotiated amount, including tax and shipping. The amount they told me on the phone did not match what they charged my Credit Card. This would avoid confusion. Turns out they said the extra $$‘s were for tax, but still doesn’t add up right. Anyways, for $75 + 128 CD’s + 7 DVD’s + $19 shipping I recieved a 30GB ipod. Overall, good deal for me. Shipping was fast as well when they got the black ipod in stock.
