Musiconmac.com Launched; Daily Site for Mac Musicians
Musiconmac.com, a new website for Mac musicians, has been officially launched this week with daily news, product reviews, features, artist and developer interviews, tips, and tutorials. The site will focus on artists using the Mac as a creative tool for musicians, to compliment other resources on the web with exclusive content. Editor-in-Chief Peter Kirn is a New York-based composer and music technology educator/consultant. The site will be community-based with a full discussion board, reader submission of story ideas, and events calendars, publishing daily.

There is another great mega mac music site called http://www.osxaudio.com already running.

Yes, I enjoy OS X Audio a lot, so I’m aware we’re not first. Of course, there’s bound to be some duplication—just like the two dozen excellent daily Mac news sites with basically the same focus. And of course, many, many of us will hit 5 or 6 favorites daily and browse.
musiconmac will differ from some of the existing music sites in some key ways:
- The focus is music in general, not just audio. This includes in-depth hardware coverage, music notation software, and music education solutions.
- In addition to daily news which I believe is essential, we’ll be doing regular feature articles, including more in-depth reviews, tutorials, and interviews with developers and artists (already a bit of that in the queue).
- One feature which isn’t fully up-and-running yet is the community side of things, with events posting and music sharing, which I also hope to emphasize.
These are just ideas. I certainly welcome feedback so we fit a niche and provide something unique instead of just overlapping with OS X Audio, EM411, Harmony Central, and so on.
