New Bill Proposed to Restrict Digital Freedom
Not sure if you guys already know about the CBDTPA bill, but it is an important bill for us iPod users and music listeners in general. The “Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act” is a plan to restrict our freedom through computers.
Sign the petition to tell these senators their bill is out of line and against our rights as citizens of the United States.

AND to go back to the original subject, the MORONIC people who waste there time on creatin plans to ruin computers should focus on something more important, like feeding the hungry, or ANYTHING else…

This isn’t current legislation. It was introduced and referred to committee in the 107th Congress in March 2002. It never went anywhere.

For you dumb ### american (not all over you but some), we decriminalized pots, not legalized it. If you don’t know what that means, then shut your mouth.

What a petty bunch of tossers. This is like a stupid Hatfield and McCoys fight. All it’s proving it who is the more STUPID.

Even if this bill has been dismissed it still doesn’t mean that this sort of bill is never going to pop up again. Signing the petition isn’t just for this bill. Think about it. You are telling these senators your feelings about these types of bills. What better way to convey your feelings than sign a petition.
You could also write your representatives if you dislike the petition deal. At least try and do something about it unless you are apathetic(hey, don’t blame you) or disagree(don’t know why you would disagree with freedom though).
And even if they failed at this sort of copy protecting it is the principle of the thing. It is restricting your digital freedoms. Do you want the government to have a say in your personal computer and what goes in it?

Stasyna…. you better pray that America is not “neo-nazi laws and rule” as you say.
Remember that Nazi Germany took over half of Europe before it was stopped. Something tells me if the Yanks were really Nazi’s, Mexico would NOT the first neighbor they annex. Remember that Canada is the US largest source for imported oil.
Be afraid…. be very afraid! LOL!

Let me get this straight

Stasyna:
Well it obviously stirs up you Canadians as well (you & Bob). If it didn’t you wouldn’t keep trying to retort!
p.s. the neo-nazi rule comment was extremely retarded and malreasoned. It didn’t exactly show your educated side.
p.p.s. Apple is an American company, so be glad for America. Without it you wouldn’t have your iPods (and most of your other stuff)!

This is all very sad are we not mac people bandied together through our love of apple? therefore we shouldn’t allow nationalism/bigotry to creep onto this site, as I sure ther are more appropriate sites elsewhere for those outpourings.

if canada didnt exist then alanis morissette wouldnt exist, hence nobody would know what the word ironic meant, so canada can do some good

The worrying thing about all these attempts to criminalise aspects of the use of music/computers, is that if they put as much energy into fighting real crime, the streets may be a little safer!
Use your vote - get rid of these useless politicians.

@ti
and the irony is that Alanis got it wrong.
A nation without sarcasim, irony or a sense of humour about itself. Starts with A end with A and encompasses all the compassion and virtues between those letters.
