New iPad 3G pre-orders being pushed to May 7
According to Apple’s online store, new pre-orders of the iPad 3G will not ship by the end of April. The store’s iPad page lists new Wi-Fi + 3G orders as shipping by May 7, while the already-released Wi-Fi models are shipping in 5-7 business days. Apple has been accepting pre-orders for the iPad 3G since it opened orders on March 12, but up until this point, all 3G pre-orders had been expected to ship later this month. Apple recently began emailing customers who pre-ordered an iPad 3G, confirming that their devices would ship in “late April.”

Hello. I just wanted to make a quick clarification:
The website says “ships” by May 7th, not “shipping” by. When I talked to Apple while ordering, they clarified that if you pre-order now, you will “receive it” by May 7th at the very latest date, not that they will ship it off on/by May 7th: this is a very big distinction. It means they will actually be shipping around 4 or 5 days prior to May 7th, for those who pre-order now.
For those who pre-ordered when the site stated Ships by late April, they will get theirs at the very latest at the end of April, not that Apple will wait for the end of April to ship. I suspect a lot of early pre-orders will be shipping out on monday or tuesday.
For me, I’ve got to wait a little longer (I’m a “May 7th” order).
