New iPod Battery Technology

Mac Rumors is reporting that Danish website ComputerWorld.dk has written an article which states “that Apple has dropped one of their iPod battery suppliers—a Danish company called Danionics.”
“Danionics supplied polymer lithium-ion batteries for the current Apple iPod, but according to Niels Kryger Anderson, Danionics’ managing director, Apple has now chosen a prismatic (fluid based) lithium-ion battery for upcoming iPods.
Implications/advantages of changing from polymer to fluid based Lithium ion based batteries is unclear.”“

If this rumour turns out to be true, it would be interesting to find out whether or not the new batteries can be used on the older, gen3 iPods.

My brother had his ipod for about two years and I just got a 30 gig ipod since July and use it every day. A friend has one for also two years and it’s still kicking strong.
Neither his or mines has any memory effects nor lower battery time.
I think the idiots who made the ipod battery movie are just extreme cases or they got pissed off cuz they experimented on their ipods and broke them (which they did admit to doing).

hehe true.
However, my 5gb iPod can barely hold a charge right now. Literally ten minutes after using it(after a full charge) it gives me the “no power” symbol. 10 minutes? After only 20 months of casual use? By the way, ipod was kept it good care.
Getting a new battery seems like the only option, but I really would like Apple to do something about the endurance. More custormer loyalty.

Andrew, have you tried the firmware update? I remember hearing how the 5 GB iPods had this problem but that there was a firmware update that would restore your battery life.
