In a panel discussion titled, “From Tech Toy to Icon, Music to Multimedia,” iLounge Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Horwitz speaks with iPod development chiefs from leading electronic accessory manufacturers Belkin and Griffin Technology, as well as the US head of Power Support, Japanese developer of the first iPod silicone rubber case. Topics include the history of the iPod and the pre-iPod work done by the companies on the panel, how their businesses have changed, and predictions on where the iPod is going in 2006. Following a Q&A session led by iLounge, all four panelists take questions from the audience. Audio quality is a bit spotty because of the recording devices used by the Expo staff, but we’ve done everything we can to bring this to you in listenable form.

I am not one to jump in on new techonogy when it first comes out. However, when faced with the daunting task of raking leaves, I felt like listen to some podcasts rather than music. I saw the Ipod lounge and decided to give it a try. Jeremy was quite informative, but after listening to NPR podcast on all thing considered in music, the discussion was quite dry after awhile. How about some music, quizes, guests or something? I believe it was the podcast of 11/11/05. I most enjoyed the talk about the Oakley mp3 player. It sound interesting and I agree, it will become more popular once the price comes down. It sound great; they would be perfect for the beach. You wouldn’t get that silly sunburn mark from the cord’s shadow. I can’t wait for wireless headphones. I know they will come. Did I detect, or was it just me, a slight, not oververt MAC bias? Or is it just me, being a PC guy. Still it was informative and enjoyable. I will sample again in the near future.

Sounds like you listened to our first ever podcast back in 2004 (there’s an 11/11/04 one with Oakley, not an 11/11/05 one). Might want to hear more recent editions, which have improved the format, etc. :-)

Thanks for providing this podcast about the meeting especially since I couldn’t be there.  I enjoyed listening to it dispite the audio problems.

Dennis worked hard to boost the audio levels from the raw file we received. Though the Expo people recorded all of the panel discussions last week, there were apparently audio issues with many of them. We’d hoped to have this one up sooner, but it took time to receive, and then fix.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is their anyway to put dvds on to the new video ipod? I have some music video dvd singles and a music video greates hits collection and don’t want to have to pay for them again to watch them on an ipod.

I really enjoyed the most recent podcast.  It was interesting and informative.  I hope that you’ll soon be able to put the podcast in video form.  Keep up the good work!
