Dear Jeremy,
Have been really enjoying the podcasts since the very beginning. Like your casual style coupled with enormous knowledge and obvious passion for the subject. Keep up the good work.
However, referring to the 9/16 podcast, I do have one small gripe: lose the silly “you Brits”-“real money”-“real football” stuff. Obviously, you guys have a good working relationship but it was kind of tense. It sounded provincial on your part, makes Bob have to be defensive, and basically comes off like you are trying to pick a fight with him. I mean, what’s the point? C’mon, you guys have an international stage here. That “America #1” trashtalk may play in Midamerica but from other perspectives (coasts, other countries, I’m in Japan) it sounds juvenile. Still, you guys are just feeling your way in this new medium and I’m sure you’ll catch the right tone.
Like I said, keep up the great work, your info and perspectives are much appreciated!

Hamilton,
Thanks for your comments - it’s a complete joke, not intended to be trash talk, just good natured (and intentionally parodic) ribbing. While we’ll definitely take your suggestion at face value (and implement it), here’s the explanation, for whatever it’s worth.
Some of what you heard was continuation of jokes from the first podcast we recorded together (episode 4, which featured Bob, Larry, and me, but didn’t air because of technical problems in the recording), and some are inside references (like the reference to crazy overseas prices - Bob, Kirk and I have been talking about the awfully high prices of iPods outside of the United States, esp. in the UK and France).
We’re a very international crew, both in actual geography and in experience (I’m writing now from Paris, and have been to Japan 4 or 5 times, just as examples). But the jokes may well have been a bit too “inside,” and listeners probably don’t know our banter or relationships well enough yet to appreciate that it’s all just teasing. My fault, not yours.

Real football? You don’t even use your feet, it’s American Throwball….
Otherwise a good podcast, good to hear Bob in this one.

Jeremy, I do like the podcast but I need to say, you should really do something about the sound. I know you are probably doing this by phone but man, my ears get blasted when you talk if I want to hear what Bob is saying. Don’t you have any way to level this?
Thanks!
