Numark this week will introduce the iDJ2, a new version of the company’s professional iPod mixing console. Unlike the original iDJ, the new iDJ2 features only one iPod dock, but can play two songs simultaneously from a single iPod. The mixer provides real-time scratch, pitch control, looping, and full cueing of music from the docked iPod.
Numark said iDJ2 owners can also use USB devices such as hard drives for music playback via rear panel USB ports. Other features include an LCD screen that offers waveform display and visual track-profiling, line inputs for any audio source, and the ability to record musical performances to a docked iPod or any connected USB drive. The iDJ2 supports MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC (non-DRM) formats. Numark said the iDJ2 will be released in August, but has not yet announced pricing.
Next: Mix: Avie Tevanian, New shows, Cardboard case, Jobs taxes

Agreed. That’s the product they should have released in the first place.

i think anywhere in the 3-400 range would be a good deal. long as everything works without lag.

I nearly jumped out of my seat when I read the pitch control option—very happy now.
I still think we need connections for two iPods…Maybe for a good set you need two units?

wow i was just looking at some cd turntables but i thought $700+ was too much for someone who just wants this as a hobby. i guess i like dj’ing (or what it looks like) mostly because of all those nice buttons *-)
just tried virtual dj, and maybe when this comes out i’ll give it a try. but as #5 says, not if its more than $300-400… hmmm

Wow, everyone jokes about ‘is this the update that makes it fun?’, and for once, this just might be. While a serious DJ wouldn’t be seen near a deck like this, at least now a beginner can learn the basics, and maybe have some fun with friends or at a house party. And dropping the dual-iPod requirement drops the actual cost quite a bit, as well as not requiring to sync libraries on both so you’re not screwed when looking to mix one specific track. Time will tell, but this may actually get more kids into DJing, and with a basic idea of what they’re supposed to be doing as well.

This is cool, I wonder if it can do beatmixing. I like the fact that it is black so that it doesn’t stand out too much out in the open like it’s predecessor. Good job Numark for stepping up and upgrade right away.

i sure hope the firmware is not sluggish, b/c then this would be nothing but a piece of techno junk. i also hope the knobs and spinners have some sort of back-light so i don’t need that peski little disco flash light to see in dark situations.

The best part is you don’t even need an iPod!

Oliver: If you can control the pitch, then you can Beatmatch.. And it looks like pitch control is included with this unit
