O2 sets U.K. iPhone 4 data pricing, ditches unlimited plans
O2 has announced its data plan pricing for the iPhone 4 in the U.K., while removing its unlimited data options. O2’s new plans scale the amount of data along with the number of voice minutes, ranging from 100 minutes and 500MB of data for £25 a month on a two-year contract to unlimited minutes and 1GB of data for £65 per month with an 18-month agreement. All of O2’s new plans also include unlimited use of the company’s U.K. Wi-Fi hotspots. O2 will also be offering data add-ons beginning in October, with 500MB of additional data running £5 and 1GB costing £10, both on a monthly basis. In addition, the company is offering current customers an early upgrade option, with a £20 charge for each month remaining on their minimum term. Apple will launch the iPhone 4 in the U.K., U.S., France, Germany, and Japan on June 24.

This totally sucks by O2! The only reason I went with them over other operators was the unlimited data, now it looks like I’ll lose that cone contract renewal time:-( am certainly not tempted to upgrade given that I am expected to lose unlimited data and pay an upgrade fee on top of the no doubt extortionate (and as yet un announced) price for the phone itself!
Thanks O2 (fornithing!)

This is a feeble offering. It goes back to the past, rather than being a forward looking opportunity. Apple should be ashamed

At the end of my 18 month ‘transfusion’ I opted to remain with O2 but on the £20 a month unlimited data PAYG tariff (O2 simplicity 20) mainly due to the fact other networks couldn’t guarantee “unlimited” data.
As the result of an almighty ####-up I have had five months of being in credit.
Certainly will not be upgrading/being ripped off just to get the latest Apple wunderspielzeug - I expect that if I wish to remain on my current tariff I’ll end up taking out a second mortgage to pay for the iPhone….....
O2? Oh yeah…...
