Otter Products has announced a new version of its rugged OtterBox for the iPod nano. The “waterproof, dustproof, dirtproof, sandproof, and drop-proof” case features an interactive membrane that provides protected click wheel access, a hard screen cover, rubber lining, and a secure-close latch. The case works with any standard set of headphones, and when combined with waterproof headphones, allows you to use your iPod while swimming. The $40 case also includes a removable neck lanyard and belt clip. Optional armbands are available for $14.95.

Wow! That is the coolest thing ever! I own a Mowing buiness and I have the nano, it gets pretty bat up but this is like, a answered prayer!

hey!
nathan:
i guess you need to put the earphones in BEFORE placing it in the water… and it only works with those special waterproof ones. i wouldn’t really risk getting my ipod wet, though. unless it has a replacement warranty or something, should it happen.

This definitely looks interesting. Looks like a tank, actually. Can’t wait to see real pictures of the case in action to see how much it adds to the Nano’s dimensions. If it doesn’t make it bulky, this could be a perfect case for working out with the nano or using it in a dirty environment.

Looks great, but…
1) Some site said you stuffed foam plugs around the nano to get a snug fit in the case? Please correct me if I am wrong? A pic I saw suggests there is .5 of an inch or so between the top of the nano and the inside top of the case….not sure if I like having to use foam inserts to get the right fit…
2) Is the beltclip removable?

I received the otterbox case for the nano about a week ago, and the case is excellent. The belt clip is removeable for the case and every control is able to be accessed(other than the hold switch) from outside of the case. I would highly recommend this case to anyone who is looking for a protective case for their nano. Looking forward to the Ipod video case, that one seems to be as scratch prone as the nano ipod
