Speaking in an interview with the New York Times, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has revealed that PA Semi, a chipmaker recently purchased by Apple, will build chips for both the iPhone and iPod. “PA Semi is going to do system-on-chips for iPhones and iPods,” Jobs said. Apple confirmed an agreement to purchase the firm, known for its design of sophisticated, low-power chips, in April. At the time, Apple spokesperson Steve Dowling said, “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not comment on our purposes and plans.”
