These are awesome little speakers! I found mine on sale for $15! They run up to 16 hours on 4 AAAs! And they sound great!

How’s this an exactly an upgrade? I saw the same ones being sold at a local RadioShack (under a different branding) last year when the Nanos were out. Not sure if they had volume control (though I remember them having one, I gave the pair to someone I know), but this particular item is nothing new.

Never mind the bit about the volume control, but these cubes were available in Black and White for the longest time. That I am very sure of.

You are right in that you did see them in black before under a different name. But they did not have a volume control. They can be found here:

Price from Pacific Rim has now dropped to $9.99, which includes the DC charger and is compatible with iPod and iPod nano. Shipping is extra and paid directly to Pacific Rim as part of the order.
However, be warned, if you are outside the U.S., handling fees (i.e. customs fees) are NOT included or charged by Pacific Rim - instead you will receive an additional bill from FedEx for these charges after they are shipped. Pacific Rim’s website makes NO mention of this fact and I was quite shocked to receive a bill for an extra $12.50 on top of the speaker cost and shipping cost I’d alread paid to Pacific Rim :(
In addition, it took 7 weeks for the speakers to get to me :((
