Sweet - but too bad it’s only the 600ml bottles. I drink either a 1.25L or 2L bottle a day - so despite drinking MORE pepsi, I get left out of the competition.
the sms competitions are no different than the 90s phone in competitions.

Seems like here in Australia a lot of companies have discovered that giving away iPods may increase sales. Has anyone else notices the influx of iPod competitions lately?
I noticed The Age comeptition, AGL (energy provider) competition, Moccona (coffee) competition, some icecream manufacturer is also giving away iPods.
Any others I have missed?

No one has asked the most important question…
what the heck are Pepsi Max and Pepsi Lite???
OK, I can guess that pepsi lite is the same as the US’s Diet Pepsi… but what’s Max? Is that Pepsi One? or something else?

Pepsi Max has no sugar (but it’s loaded with artificial sweeteners)

JC, Pepsi Max is 100% the same than Diet Pepsi, however some marketing people thought it to be a good idea to give it another name and target it towards males (apparently Diet Pepsi is targeted at femal buyers ...)

They will be calling Aussie’s Pepsi Max…Pepsi Edge in the United States. Its made with Splenda, a sugar substitute with apparently fewer carbs for the Atkins diet.

Pepsi Max is the same thing as Pepsi One in the States. I promise
It’s just marketed really macho and “extreme” over here.

TripleM also chucked an iPod into their “31 days of may” competition. Though not the same idea, it still is an iPod in a competition.

Yay, an exclusively Australin thing!!!!! I will be buying far to much pepsi over the coming weeks, and then I’ll be staying and entering all my codes in the 3-4am hour when I have the best chance of winning…imagine how cool it would be to have 2 ipods, or i spose i could sell it on ebay…and NaTaS, from where did u hear that we will get the iTMS at the end of this year??? Is it like an official apple date or just rumour? And to the stupid person who was wondering why an ipod cost $449, not everyone in the world uses the AMERICAN dollar. I have kargaroos at my property, but I also have an Apple shop within half an hours drive

For those in Australia - there’s a sneaky way you can enter the contest for only 20c/25c, rather than 55c. Most mobile companies offer a ‘send SMS via the web’ service, and in some of these services, the user agreement guarantees you are only charged a certain amount per SMS. Telstra, for instance, guarantees not to charge you more than 25c per message sent.
RadioBirdman - you might want to think twice about the winner confirmation, you’re being charged an extra 55c just to be told you didn’t win. If you do win, Pepsi will SMS you regardless.
Andrew - most convenience stores should stock Pepsi, unfortunately you’ll need a mobile…
The reason that only Pepsi Max labels seem to have this offer at the moment, is because Pepsi Max actually sells a lot more than plain Pepsi, so Pepsi Max stock is replaced more quickly.

Geeze, is Telstra the Microsoft of Australia or what. They’re the big winners here. Every second contest, voting, whatever requires you SMS. Theyre making #### loads of cash out of crap like this and they’re service still sux. You know here in Oz it costs about $30AU per month for a broadband internet connection with a download limit of 200-300megs (which kinda defeats the point of broadband). I’m sure they don’t pay there staff $12000 per fortnight wage. Where’s the money going ?
Maybe there are no iPods. Are the names published in a paper or something. You could run a contest like this and how would you know if anyone actually won anything.

I know it’s not the answer you want to hear… but yeah, the winners are being published in the Australian each Thursday
Telstra doesn’t actually take the “cream” from the top of these services. The basic cost of sending an SMS is claimed by your mobile phone provider (eg Optus or Telstra), which is 15c-25c depending on who you’re with. The rest goes to the premium SMS provider running the contest, who take a bit to cover their own fees, then the rest goes to the promoter (in this case, Pepsi).
Premium SMS numbers (they start with 188) are a great way to make money to finance your own prize, though.
