1008 is a lot of iPods! Apparently, that’s wrong. I calculated it, and if it was in America, that would be approximately $300,000 worth of iPods! (I forgot the numbers after the three hundred thousand, but the figure is still quite astounding). Why don’t they do something like that in America!?!?

WOAH… How are they going to make money from that? I wonder how much Pepsi’s cost there? I just know that I’d be the one waking up at 5 am on Sunday and Sunday morning doing the codes… I’d probably be up all night… hell I’d take a day or two off of work. Sure, I already have an iPod mini, but can you say eBay! No way, Australia sells that many Pepsi’s! I wonder if Apple has anything to do with this. I wonder if halfway through it the iTunes Music store will open there. Isn’t an Apple Store supposed to open there soon?

the site says a lot of different things, and the back of the pepsi label says other different things. it may end of the 11th of july, and then that extra round in september is only for the extra 10 they are giving away.
SMS is used all the time in australia for competitions. We also have those coke machines that you can buy a coke with your phone [sms]. you just sms the drink number [say number 4 for vanilla coke] to the number on the machine, and it charges you the same amount as it would in coins, and the coke pops out the bottom. they have one at uni. its very cool.

ok i live in the US, however will be traveling to Aus for abotu a month in a few days…...i guess my american cellular phone would not work for sending SMS over there (cingular free nation plan) right?
or would it…and if not is there a way to send them SMS form a computer or web conection or am i screwed by not having a cell phone?

There is a hidden thing that is not mentioned clearly. For Sending SMS for competition usually it will cost around 55c to $2.00 depending on who run the competition. Just like voting for Australian Idol, you need to pay higher (usual SMS cost around 20c). So with some kind of maths, if it cost 50cent to send, if there are 1000 SMS coming in 1 hour, it already pay for the iPOD.
That is the marketing gimmicks…
So if you want to, buy 100 pepsi (US$170), plus SMS 100($50), might be lucky enough to get 1 iPOD.
Good Luck…

That’s right, it’s a load of BS alot of the SMS competions here in Australia are doing this sort of thing and making a truckload of cash… eg. Big Brother, etc…

Sweet - but too bad it’s only the 600ml bottles. I drink either a 1.25L or 2L bottle a day - so despite drinking MORE pepsi, I get left out of the competition.
the sms competitions are no different than the 90s phone in competitions.

Seems like here in Australia a lot of companies have discovered that giving away iPods may increase sales. Has anyone else notices the influx of iPod competitions lately?
I noticed The Age comeptition, AGL (energy provider) competition, Moccona (coffee) competition, some icecream manufacturer is also giving away iPods.
Any others I have missed?

No one has asked the most important question…
what the heck are Pepsi Max and Pepsi Lite???
OK, I can guess that pepsi lite is the same as the US’s Diet Pepsi… but what’s Max? Is that Pepsi One? or something else?
