Philips has introduced a new iPod-compatible, under-cabinet multimedia player. The Philips DCD778 Docking Entertainment System sports an 8.5-inch widescreen LCD display and can play audio and video from an iPod, DVD, (S)VCD, MP3-CD, CD(RW) and Picture CD. The system also offers a built-in ATSC/NTSC TV tuner, digital AM/FM tuner, two 2-inch speakers, cooking timer and clock, and wireless remote. The Philips DCD778—which the company says is compatible with fourth- and fifth-generation iPods, the iPod mini, and iPod nano—ships next week for approximately $400.

It’s essentially a re-cased DCP850, but it doesn’t mention DivX support. Still, pretty cool for a kitchen or bathroom maybe.

That thing looks absolutely AMAZING. Looks like it supports a vast array of features and funcitons. Would seriously consider getting it when it comes out.

Remember it is a Philips product, in Europe (NL) their reputation is not to good. Many bugs and failures with no customer support at all.

I’m suprised Sony-who makes a similar type product-the ICF-CDK series hasn’t added iPod or even Walkman support to their kitchen CD clock radios.

@R. That’s only in the Netherlands and based on nothing. Stick to the bare facts instead of repeating what other people say.

No wonder they don’t bring it out in Europe, ugly as it is.
