Philips intros iPod-ready LCD-TV kitchen system

Philips has introduced a new iPod-compatible, under-cabinet multimedia player. The Philips DCD778 Docking Entertainment System sports an 8.5-inch widescreen LCD display and can play audio and video from an iPod, DVD, (S)VCD, MP3-CD, CD(RW) and Picture CD. The system also offers a built-in ATSC/NTSC TV tuner, digital AM/FM tuner, two 2-inch speakers, cooking timer and clock, and wireless remote. The Philips DCD778—which the company says is compatible with fourth- and fifth-generation iPods, the iPod mini, and iPod nano—ships next week for approximately $400.

It’s essentially a re-cased DCP850, but it doesn’t mention DivX support. Still, pretty cool for a kitchen or bathroom maybe.

That thing looks absolutely AMAZING. Looks like it supports a vast array of features and funcitons. Would seriously consider getting it when it comes out.

Remember it is a Philips product, in Europe (NL) their reputation is not to good. Many bugs and failures with no customer support at all.

I’m suprised Sony-who makes a similar type product-the ICF-CDK series hasn’t added iPod or even Walkman support to their kitchen CD clock radios.
