Piel Frama announces leather case for 40GB 4G iPod

picPiel Frama has released a new leather case for the 40GB 4G iPod featuring a front cover with magnet closure, removable swivel belt clip, two credit card pockets and one money pocket. The case comes in black, tan, black/tan, red, and costs 50 Euros (approx. $61) with availability in early September.

Maybe it is just me but isn’t a magnet a bad idea near a hard drive? Sure it probably doesn’t have much power but still last thing I want is to loose the data on the drive to a magnet.

I watched a myth busters, and those kind of magnets are WAY not strong enough, and they only magnets strong enought to acutally erase data from a HDD is from one of the super strong one the government has, that came from PC Magazine.

Magnets are not really a risk for short term data loss. What happens is over time it can have an effect on both data and the electric curcuits. Though by then you probably would upgrade to a 200GB iPod before it would have an effect that would be noticable.
