The most recent Lounge Poll, “How much space is left on your primary iPod?”, is now closed.
With nearly 6,000 votes cast, a slim (51%) majority of responding iLounge readers indicated that they still had around half or more of their top iPod’s total capacity left over. Only 8%, however, said that their iPods were 90% empty. The remaining 49% indicated that they had around a quarter or less free space, with 27% saying that they have only enough room for one more album, some files, or no room at all.
Complete results are available in Read More below, and at the Lounge Poll archives. Our new poll on an easier topic, “How Old Are You?”, is now open. You can find it on the left column below Ask iLounge.

I had less than 25% left on my black and white screen iPod 20Gb so I sold it on eBay and bought a new 60Gb iPod with colour screen. I guess most people might do the same?

I always thought I should wait to get a 60gb pod, but I realized that a 20 would do for the amount of music I have and that by the time I built my music collection to over 5,000 songs that I truly would like to have on my iPod, then I would be ready to upgrade.

I have one of the very first ipods that was shipped to the UK! A 5gb. It’s still going strong but is always totally full. I’m kinda hoping it’lll die soon as I would like get a 60gb to have more music. I really only listen to it in the car. I’v ejust ordered a new honda to replace my audi and it’ll have the internal hard drive so i can ut my mp3’s on it. When it arrives the dealer is going to swap out the 30gb drive and put in a 250gb so I’ll have all my music when i’m driving. After that I’m not sure when I’ll use my ipod.

I have a 40GB ipod (non color, Firmware version 3.1) I have about 10 GB free but when I go into the Settings>About menu on the iPod it states I have 4.9 GB available, When I sync iTunes tells me I have 10 GB (and that figure changes as I add and remove songs, but the iPod always read 4.9 GB available)
