Refurbished iPod 40GB for $399, 10GB for $249
Dealmac: The factory-refurbished iPod 40GB MP3 player, with dock and carrying case, is back at $399 in The Apple Store’s Special Deals section, as a reader found. That’s $30 less than the best price we’ve seen for a new, factory-sealed unit. Shipping is free, although sales tax is added where applicable. A one-year Apple warranty applies. Also available: the factory-refurbished iPod 10GB without dock for $249.

The 10GB iPods are NOT refurbished. They are NEW. I bought one from there and it was NEW.

Refurbished means that if people have problems with the product, they send it in then the company or whoever figures out what’s wrong, fixes it and then sells it again except at a lower price? I’m stupid.

I’ve been wondering this too. If we buy a refurbished iPod, how ###### is it going to be? Or does that depend on how scratched up it was when it was sent in for refurbishment?

as for refurbished its hit or miss......i have saved tons of money while making those choices and stricking gold while when my brother purchased his 30 gb ipod from compusa for 250 (yes 250) but it had a large scratch on the screen (that was all though) so he bought iCleaner and all was good though.....good luck

I don’t like refurbs… I bought a refurb CD Player once, didn’t work at all. I also have had bad experiences with used games…

Er....sorry, again, didn’t scroll down. The 30GB is new (at 399) and the 40GB is refurbished and 399. Refurbished, the 30GB is 349.00. Sorry for my mistake

So, does “refurbished” = NEW BATTERY?

I bought a 20gb refurb a month or so ago, and it was pristine. WOuldn’t have known it was refurbished except for the box (you don’t get the nice cube) and, oh yeah, it cost $110 less!
I have heard the refurbs get a new battery, but I don’t know for sure. You do get the same full warranty as a new one.
