Report: Apple to unveil iPod with ‘none-touch’ technology
Apple is set to introduce its next generation iPod, according to a high-ranking executive from the company’s Asian manufacturing partner, Hon Hai Precision. Bloomberg News reports that at an annual meeting this week in Taiwan, Hon Hai chairman Terry Gou said Apple is about to unveil a new iPod using a “none-touch” concept. Gou did not elaborate further, though he said he expects the company’s revenue to grow at least an average of 30 percent in the next five years based on rising orders from Apple and Sony. Hon Hai owns the Foxconn iPod factories in China, which are at the center of recent labor abuse claims.

Voice control would be just great in crowded public areas… The guy next to you is ordering some coffee and the iPod flips out. Doubtful.

Bobby, you can’t always have the latest tech. Technology is constantly advancing and you just have to learn to be happy and satisfied with what you have.

None-touch is entirely possible, if it is done through a remote. and as for voice controls, cell phones already have voice control, so that is not entirely out of the question

Yeah, but you talk into cell phones. Lots of us don’t talk to our iPods.

It’ll have an accelerometer in it:
Flick the whole ipod rightward to advance,
leftward to go back,
uppward to increase volume,
downward to decrease.
Shake it all about for random shuffle and drop it on the floor to switch it off

What about a few sensors on the edge? One for play, one for rewind, forward, etc. It senses your finger above the sensor and does an action… I know if you place it close to other objects that may be a problem though… Maybe it can use heat or some other form of light wave recognition? I’m just thinking out loud…. I don’t know the feasability of this stuff…

Do you have any idea how wicked cool it would be to have a bone touch iPod!! I really hope the next iPod is none touch just like in Minority Report…just thinkin’ about it makes me exited!!!

that video doesn’t seem real to me. plus it doesn’t follow along with “none touch”
“none touch” could just be a code name for the 6G ipod.

None-touch doesn’t necessarily mean you touch nothing, it could just mean you don’t touch the ipod itself. A tiny (ipod shuffle sized) remote click wheel that sends the message via blue-tooth to the actual full-screen ipod. Maybe the remote pops into a slot for storage when not in use. combine that with blue-tooth headphones and the ipod could never leave your pocket/purse/briefcase/backpack etc. I think that would be wicked-cool.

Do u really think Apple would take the Signature Click Wheel out of the iPod? Im not too sure they would. What I was thinking how maybe it could go cordless…you know maybe using IR or Bluetooth to connect to our computers! Just a thought! Or most essentially making it WiFi to to connect to the net wirelessly. In my opinion they need to elaborate on this Non-Touch Technology!

maybe its like that keyboard thing that projects onto the table or whatever. you could have an ipod round your neck and a clickwheel on your hand….

Has anybody considered that “non touch” could just mean that all controls are made from a new style inline remote ?? Would kinda make sense, so that you then don’t have to touch the screen and get it scratched or heavily finger printed. If its not, then mabe I should patent the idea first and then sell it back to Apple for a small tidy some !

I think it means it has voice recognition with a built-in mic into the earbuds. You would say, “Volume up or down.” You could even say the title of the song you want, perhaps even EQ functions.

Well just think about your optical mouse. Could that put some type of that technology into an iPod?

How about the possibility that its just yet another romour !!! And that nothing comes of it, something along the same lines as the rumours we’ve been fed for about the last year regarding a “new” iPod! Quit frankly I’ll believe it when we see it, besides which we all know that us suckers over here in the UK will end up over paying for the damn thing as and when it does ever arrive :-(

What if does have sensors and you stick it in your pocket? How do you carry it without turning it into a shuffle? Maybe it’s disciplinary—No touch! then it zaps you with electricity.
