Report: Next iPods to run OS X?
According to a report by Ars Technica, Apple CEO Steve Jobs revealed during a speech to Apple employees today that the company has a team working on OS X for “some iPods we’re working on.” OS X, the Unix-based operating system that Jobs brought to the Macintosh following the acquisition of his company NeXT, is also the operating system found in iPhone, and credited for iPhone’s powerful multitasking, networking, and animation features, amongst others. Sources have suggested that the next-generation iPods mentioned by Jobs will debut in mid- to late-September, and include widescreen video playback, as well as other features similar to ones debuted in iPhone.

With the new iphone it’s quite obvious that new ipods should be right around the corner. My guess would be available for the holiday season since the technology is already set and they can sell zillions during the holidays. Hopefully it’s coming soon!
Hurry up apple my iphone has me spoiled is already full and now it’s hard to go back to the old technology on the ipod and I’m not replacing my 60 GB until there is a wide screen ipod

I hope the 6G iPod that I have been waiting for since my 1G
Sept. sounds like a great release date, especially mid September. Two months before my B-Day!
Nano broke is as good as the iPhone. I would love to get the iPhone for the great iPod, aluminum casing, and touchscreen. I will not buy it because 8GB is toooo small for $630 (w/ tax) Yes, it is flash, but too little. Also, I have T-Mobile and don’t want to switch to Cingular/At&T. Cancelation fees are outragous and activation fees for the iPhone are probably expensive. For the 6G iPod, my hopes are a 3.5” screen with the same resolution of the iPhone, touchscreen, 16GB flash memory, and an aluminum casing to stop scratches from appearing every 10 secs. My 30GB V. iPod is scratched and it is even in a case. OS X sounds nice in an iPod, but for people to buy it, price it @ $279 - $379 I really don’t need 100GB like some people are talking about. 20GB and 40GB would be the best choice for Apple and a removable battery would also be nice. $70 for a replacement battery is rediculous especially how you have to pay shipping. Come on Jobs, make an iPhone without the Internet and the phone and call it the “new iPod.”
