That’s precisely why they should fight this .I bet there are laywers who would defnend them pro bono. Mostly everyone who has been targeted so far has settled and paid the fine instead of allowing the case to see the courts.

More of these cases should be fought.

I have to agree with mGee. More cases have to be fought. The RIAA cant go around sueing everybody, Sombody has to stand up to them.

Being too poor to afford a luxury NEVER justifies the theft of a luxury.

Music is a luxury.

funny, didn’t like 5 of the major record labels, all riaa affiliates, just get sued for price fixing?  and didn’t they lose?

Music is a culture FACT OF LIFE.  NOT a luxury.  Music has been around since the dawn of humans.  Record companies are making music a luxury item by charging insane amounts of money for what is and will always be a cultural staple. 

Music existed before businesses and corporations.

someguy - you said it all.  Music is a cultural staple.  Artists make jack $h!t off of their album sales, there money comes from touring.  This is a known fact and some middle age rich bastard doesn’t diserve my hard earned cash, for somebody elses creative statement! period!

THAT IS SUCH A NARROW MINDED VIEW POINT! music has been around long before the music idustry and will still be around long after this dated buisness model is in practice!

The music companies are operating an outdated business model. They are creating costs and complications for themselves by producing CDs, wrapping them in expensive packaging, incurring the costs of distribution and then allowing retailers to take their cut of the cake. If they allowed online music downloads for a fee they could reduce their own costs and still make money by offering consumers lower prices. Just because they have a stranglehold on the consumer today does not mean they should maintain their outdated and inefficient business model.

As soon as some real competition is introduced into their industry they will be undercut by someone who can offer a distribution system that benefits the consumer and not just their own pockets.

Music a gift as probasive to mankind as love or language…MUSIC IS NOT A LUXURY!

Some things don’t need to be debated. People like music, people hate paying. It’s easy to download whatever you want. End of story. Don’t get caught, and if you do, say it wasn’t you.

the difference is, you’re stealing a physical cd, with a physical booklet, in a physical case, and getting cd quality music.

Downloading mp3s is a far cry from stealing cds so do us a favor and leave your crappy analogies at home.

Yeah none you dipstick. Producing physical CD’s costs the manufacturer money.

Each additional illegal download of a track or album costs NOTHING. Most of the tracks would never be bought anyway, even if there weren’t free routes to obtaining them, so basically everyone should shut the #### up about this as it’s just the way it is.

BTW who cares - so refreshing to hear someone tell it how it is.
