Say hello to the new iLounge
Welcome to the new iLounge. Even though we’re still tweaking the many pages of the site, the first stage of our long-awaited redesign is finally live and ready for you to kick the tires. Our aim with the new look is to streamline every aspect of the site, making it faster and easier for you to find and read the content you want. Be sure to email us what you think of the sparkly fresh site, and inform us of any major issues caused by the redesign. If you’d rather not send an email, you can comment on this news story and we’ll be sure to read everything you say.
Also, keep in mind that this is only the first phase of the redesign — more sections will be getting a makeover in the coming weeks. You can look forward to the revamped iLounge forums, tips & tricks, gear guide, and hacks & mods sections. In addition, we’ll soon be launching the new myPod online helper, which will offer one-click access to the information and accessories that are related to your specific iPod model.

No problem with ads. For all the info you’ve brought us, you deserve to be rich. Anybody who complains about ads is an idiot in more senses than one. Your ads are exactly the ones we want info on - it’s not they’re ads on beds or buying gold coins.
The site still needs major tweaking - parts still are misliagned ... a good 0.6 beta effort though.

One thing I still don’t understand. What was wrong with the old site? Did you get a load of complaints or something?v

I’d like a little less ads, but I understand that you have still have to pay your rent.
Anyway, some of the ads are kinda cool.

Argg!! I hate this new layout. The last one was more spacious and open. Now everything feels crammed together. The banner ads takes on more significance and make everything a visual mess. iPodLounge’s color schemed worked before, but now it doesn’t even feel like it’s there because the banner ads compete too much.

One more thing. I agree with many above comments that the previous design was very distinctive. Now iPodLounge looks like every other site.

I use Firefox, and I increase the text size in order to make sites a bit more legible. This absolutely destroys the new main page. Bits of text end up overlapping other bits of text, and the whole thing becomes illegible.

Well, I’ll just say that I’m not a big fan of the redesign either. That being said, I know it’s not easy to please everyone. And I also know that I’d rather have ads than no site at all.
My feedback to improve the homepage:
Try to unify the two main stories with the related pictures. Perhaps boxing them in, either individually or as a whole. Right now the related pictures just flow into column 1 and don’t feel like they belong to the headlines. Blocking them in will also help rid of the tired and boring 3 column layout.
Also, the beauty shot next to the logo just looks like another banner ad.
